Farmer's Market

On a very overcast and chilly Wednesday afternoon the vendors at the Cico Park farmer's market offered a great selection of produce, flowers, and fresh bread. I haven't been shooting very much lately because 1. I'm busy. 2. I'm discouraged with the paper.
But I like people. I like hearing people's stories and seeing people smile and feel good. Nancy English, of Ma's Kitchen, talked to me for 30 minutes about her family baking business, and how she woke up at 1 a.m. this morning to start baking, and how she learned to cook from her mother and when times were hard she turned to baking to help keep her family afloat. It's conversations like these that make me realize why I like doing this. I'm shooting them to tell their story. I'm shooting because the feeling I get from shooting and talking to people is like no other rush I've experienced. Life is good.

Guerrero Olguin shows off a mushroom he sells only when it's been raining. Why? They only grow with lots of rain.
Green green green. Beautiful.
I think the reason I liked talking to Nancy so much was that she reminded me of my sassy bread baking grandma.

  1. People are what I like the most about shooting too. Personality portraits are my favorite. These look wonderful, especially the top one. Great shot.
