Slackliners

The girl in the white was new and she cracked up whenever she was about to slip or fall.
So I was walking around campus looking for interesting things to take pictures of when I spotted these slackliners in the shade. The girl in the black had been slack lining for seven years and was the best slack liner of the bunch.

And I saw this cute little thing on the little nature bridge by the Derb.
I wonder if Manda and Stu are still together. I hope so.

Family Day

Today I got up at the crack of nine in hopes of taking ample amounts of awesome family day photos. I wanted lots of kids, lots of events, and lots of action. Unfortunately, I didn't find that. It rained heavily in the afternoon and the general attendance to family day activities was minimal. But despite that, I did come away with a few shots that I really liked and had a relaxing day in my cool, breezy apartment.

The juggling guy was actually really good and moderately funny. This girl was a four year old skeptic; in all the other photos she has a very disapproving face on.

"The photographer needs to watch out!" Only after he said that and the machetes were back into the circular formation did I realize he was talking to me because he threw a machete to the side nearest me.

Balloon guy and happy kid.

Bright colors. So pretty.

Free Spirits

I saw Frank and Charlie standing on a street corner by Walmart and immediately rushed home and grabbed my camera. I stalked them through the parking lot until they sat down on the benches outside the store. I was pretty hesitant to approach them but after talking to them for awhile I was really glad I did.

Charley (left) and Frank sit outside with Jasper.

Charley had gotten in a fight with someone twice his size and 10 years his junior. "I'm a little bulldog," Charley said. "If they want to tangle with me I'll tangle with them."

Jasper was really shy to everyone except Frank and Charley.
Jasper tongue. =]
I learned a valuable lesson this afternoon and that was to never assume people are homeless just because they appear to be...homeless.

Just like a bird with a fry...

I'm happy with the little things.

Orders cooked just right. Perfectly exposed photos. Random adventures. Learning. Juicy Juice punch. Books. New kitchen gadgets. Sunshine. Big dogs. Peace. Family. Friends.

I recently bought a Canon 5D SLR camera for a couple of reasons. One, I'm studying abroad this coming summer and wanted an SLR for the trip. Two, I'd like to teach journalism and would need a beautiful, wonderful camera to teach kids photography. And three, I'm spoiled and wanted a full sensor. So I've been taking my camera, affectionately named Lysander from A Midsummer Night's Dream, just about everywhere with me.
These are some of the photos I've taken thus far.

Creepy marionettes at a Rootsfest booth.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals headlined Rootsfest. They rocked it out big time.
Matt cut his leg to the bone on the fire pit in his backyard and needed four internal and seven external stitches.

My friend Sam has great expressions. This was at a girl's night event we went to in the Union.
